Malawi Relief Fund UK rescues Chiradzulu hospital from dry washing machines shortage

As Chiradzulu district hospital faces shortage of dry washing machines, Malawi Relief Fund UK has rescued the health facility by donating a washing machine to ease the challenge.

Jameson Chausa, director of health and social services at Chiradzulu district hospital admitted that almost all the five laundry machines at the facility are not working.

Chausa said the machines are very old to the extent of no repair, a thing which forces them to go and seek laundry service at other hospitals like Queen Elizabeth Central hospital in Blantyre.

“We commend Malawi Relief Fund UK for the timely donation of the new washing machine and requested other well wishers to come forward and assist the hospital in other areas,” Chausa

In his remarks Malawi Relief Fund UK country coordinator Yakub Adam Valli said there are a number of interventions that his organization has lined up to assist Chiradzulu district and the hospital in particular.

Valli said “currently Malawi Relief Fund UK is working on maintenance of  Chiradzulu hospital mortuary with new cooling system to a tune of 2.5 million Malawi kwacha.”

He said has already deplored a consultant engineer called Anderson Engineering who is currently working to install the system at the mortuary which is currently not in good condition.
