Malawi records new polio
Ministry of health has confirmed that Malawi has recorded a new polio case
According to ministry of health spokesperson, Andrian Chikumbe, the 14 year old boy from Ndirande presented to a health facility with paralysis which started on 1st December last year
Chikumbe says ministry of health is currently working with Blantyre district health office to investigate further details around the case.
He has however, clarified that this is the second case that has originated from the country saying the others from Mulanje, Phalombe and Mwanza were from Mozambique and that they only came into the country to receive treatment.
Meanwhile, health rights activist, George Jobe of Malawi Health Equity Network, says they will be looking forward to implementation of strategies towards eradicating the disease.
