Malawi Police Service arrests former MBC director general

Malawi Police service has arrested former director general of Malawi Broadcasting Corporation MBC on allegations of abusing female employees

National police spokesperson James Kadadzera has confirmed the development saying “Sumbuleta was arrested Saturday morning and is in police custody at Limbe police station.”

His arrest comes weeks after a Malawi Human Rights Commission MHRC inquiry revealed he sexually abused female staff when he was head of the institution

MHRC recommended that inspector general of police should act on the matter

The commission also ordered Malawi Police service to prosecute MBC security officer for shooting a Polytechnic student who later died
