Malawi Police Service apologizes to UNIMA students

Malawi Police Service has apologized to students of University of Malawi UNIMA for using teargas within the campus in Zomba by the police

The police fired teargas on students when running battles ensued between police and students in the aftermath of the latter delivering their petition to office of district commissioner on 23rd September

Commissioner of police Violet Magwaya says eastern region police headquarters management will institute measures to ensure that incidents of similar nature should never happen again within UNIMA campus

“Malawi Police service values the right to education of the citizenry,” Magwaya

Meanwhile, Chancellor College Students Union has said will sue government through Attorney General for compensation

Speaking to radio Islam, Chancellor College students’ union president Charles Dokera confirmed to have received the letter hence cancelling the planned demonstrations.
