Malawi launches 50 million African women speak platform
Malawi has launched the 50 million African women speak platform which aims at connecting business women n Africa to share business ideas and empower each other
The platform is a digital platform with a 38 member state membership from across Africa
Speaking during the launch minister of trade Sosten Gwengwe said the platform is important because it will contribute to economic empowerment of women through the provision of an online platform to access information
“Government is committed to fulfill objectives and implementation of the 50 million African women speak project as it is an opportunity to uplift women entrepreneurs and address problems they face,” Gwengwe
Gwengwe then asked women to implement the project by supporting each other
On her part chairperson of COMESA federation of business women in Malawi Barbara Banda said the platform is important as it will enable business women to boost their businesses through the ideas they will be getting from women of other countries
Banda said it will also help the women to do business that will be easy to find markets in Malawi and other countries
“We will make sure we reach out to women in rural areas so that they should also benefit from the project,” Banda
Commenting one of the business women Lily Alfonso said the platform is an opportunity for business women to be empowered and get information they need on how they can be promote their businesses
