Malawi in end Birharzia campaign
Ministry of Health says Birhazia remains a threat to the country despite some positive strides in eradicating it hence the need for the masses to take part in the fight against the disease.
This has been said ahead of this year’s Birhazia Mass Drug Administration campaign targeting children between the ages of 5 -14 which will be rolled out next week.
Speaking to journalists in Blantyre, Acting Deputy Director of Preventive Health Services in Health Education in the Ministry Mavuto Thomas said Birhazia is one of the neglected tropical diseases in Africa that kills Over 300 thousand people per year.
Thomas encouraged parents and guardians to make sure that their children have received drugs during the campaign period to avoid complications like cancer and barrenness as a result of untreated Birhazia.
