Malawi Hosts SADC Electricity Conference
Regional Electricity Regulation Association RERA has said the electricity conference which is taking place in Malawi will help to share energy in SADC countries.
Executive director Elijah Sichone has made the remarks during the opening of this year’s annual conference for RERA at Bingu Convention Centre in Lilongwe.
Sichone said “RERA is planning to gather resources to boost energy sharing.”
In his remarks SADC secretariat representative Moses Ntlamelle said Malawi is a priority in electricity sharing.
Minister of Natural Resources, Energy and Mining Aggrey Massi has urged local power suppliers to provide adequate electricity to Malawians.
Massi expressed low turn up of local energy providers in the country at the conference.
The regional electricity conference is being held under the theme building and regulating a sustainable energy future-case for SADC region.
