Malawi hosts ARIPO Ministers

Malawi is from November 20th to 24th hosting the 41st session of the council of ministers and administrative council of the African regional intellectual property organisation ARIPO.

According to solicitor general and secretary for Justice Dr Janet Banda the event is expected to host approximately 150 participants in the field of intellectual property.

“Delegates will discuss among others matters concerning raising awareness of intellectual property rights including protection of new plant varieties and protection of copyright and related rights,” said Banda.

She said ARIPO was established to pool resources of its member states in intellectual property matters to avoid duplication of financial and human resources among others.

ARIPO has 19 members.
