Malawi detects suspected Mpox cases

Ministry of health has announced the detection of two suspected cases of Mpox disease

Minister of health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda says the affected people are a 31 year old man admitted at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital and a boy aged 17 who is getting treatment at unnamed residence.

However Chiponda has called for no panic as authorities are treating the situation carefully

She says laboratory results of the first case are negative for Mpox and are waiting for results of the other case

Spokesperson of Ministry of health Adrian Chikumbe says the minister was in Blantyre as they were awaiting laboratory confirmation of the presented signs and symptoms.
