Leader of opposition launches masaajid, churches reconstruction project
Leader of opposition in parliament has launched reconstruction of masaajid and churches that were affected by cyclone Freddy in Southern region
Dr Kondwani Nankhumwa launched the project at Phalombe secondary school on Sunday
Speaking Nankhumwa said they saw it valuable to introduce the project in order to restore masaajid and churches because no one has shown interest in rebuilding them
Speaking at the ceremony Muslim Association of Malawi Chairperson in Phalombe district Sheikh Ibrahim Kuchitsa welcomed the project saying congregates will be praying in a conducive environment
Chairperson for Phalombe district council Lenard Mkomwa said is happy because one of the districts that were affected by cyclone Freddy has been rescued from some of the effects of the disaster
During the event leaders of various mosques and churches received 50 iron sheets each worth 7 million kwacha
