IZF asks Malawians to support Friends of IZF initiative

Islamic Zakat Fund IZF has asked well-meaning Malawians to support its friends of IZF initiative.

The remarks, were made by IZF director, Muhammad Osman during the first-ever Friends of IZF beneficiaries and well-wishers face to face meeting in Blantyre, since its inception in 2022.

According to Osman, Friends of IZF initiative was conceived so as to propagate the concept of charity and the role it plays in the spiritual, moral as well as material development of the community.

Osman says, they organized the meeting with the aim of soliciting ideas from well-wishers and beneficiaries on how to raise more funds for the initiative.

In his remarks, IZF bursary officer Khalid Chilima disclosed that the initiative has so far assisted 20 students with 14 from secondary schools and 6 from local colleges.

However, Chilima says, they have an outstanding balance of college students hence planning to hold similar meetings in other regions of the country with the aim of reaching out to potential donors.

“IZF will incorporate the suggestions put forward by the attendees so as to ensure progress including that of raising the contribution fee from K3000 to K5000 kwacha per month,” Chilima.

In her remarks, one of the beneficiaries, Fateema Assan, who scored 14 points in 2024 Malawi School of Education Examinations MSCE hailed IZF for the initiative which started through a WhatsApp group and has since asked well-wishers to join so as to assist more students.

In his remarks, one of the attendees, Abdul Rasheed Chilizule, promised to raise awareness for the initiative to potential donors so as to help IZF achieve its goal of assisting needy students in their studies.

The meeting was held under the theme: “Building a Community of Compassionate Givers”
