UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) says Israel is blocking entry of around 6,000 trucks loaded with food, medicine and relief supplies destined for Gaza, enough to sustain the territory for three months.
UNRWA media adviser Abu Hasna said that although the amount of aid entering the territory has increased since the ceasefire took effect in October, the flow remains far below the level required to meet overwhelming needs of a population devastated by two years of genocide and blockade.
Abu Hasna said ever since, Tel Aviv regime has prevented entry of essential items, including medical supplies, water, sanitation equipment and basic foodstuffs.
He said the shipment which Israel is holding also contains hundreds of thousands of tents and blankets intended for 1.3 million displaced Palestinians across the territory.
Most families, he said, have lost all purchasing power, leaving aid as their only means of survival.
