Islamic Organisations to Protect Children’s Rights
Islamic Organizations in Malawi have been challenged to enhance safety and report abuse of rights of children in their jurisdiction.
The call was made in Blantyre during training workshop initiated by Mai Aisha Trust and Drop of Compassion from UK, aimed at enlightening directors, trustees and senior members of Islamic organizations on reporting allegations, identifying abuse and safeguarding rights of people in workplaces.
Speaking to Radio Islam after the training Muhammad Patel, a safeguarding consultant from UK said there is need for Islamic organizations in Malawi to set standards when operating their projects and working with children.
Commenting on the same Mai Aisha Trust project manager Abdul Aziz Yasin said Islamic organizations must break the silence and report abuse in various workplaces.
He emphasized the need to safeguard rights of children especially in all Islamic schools.
