Hijab Taskforce Urges Muslims Around Mmanga School to Exercise Patients on Hijab
Hijab Taskforce has urged Muslim communities around M’manga area in Balaka district to excise patience and maintain calm as the group is resolving misunderstandings surrounding the wearing of hijab at M’manga primary school.
Speaking to radio Islam, a member of the taskforce, Abdul Salaam Faduweck confirmed to radio Islam that a number of Muslims have been assaulted by Anglicans over the hijab misunderstandings in the area.
“The misunderstandings arose after authorities at Mmanga primary school, which is run by Anglicans, barred Muslim learners from wearing the headscarf at the school although the ministry of education science and technology has allowed them to wear hijab in school,” Faduweck said
According to him, the Anglicans who closed the school some 3 weeks ago, had agreed to reopen the school on Monday October 21st but until now, classes are yet to begin raising tensions amongst communities.
He has meanwhile urged Muslims to avoid getting in conflict with the law and report any abuses to police and relevant authorities.
