Halaal Department in Malawi certifies 574 establishments
Halaal Department in Malawi says has certified 574 establishments hence making massive strides in serving the community with Halaal foods
One of the trustees for the Department Maulana Saidi Umar said this in Balaka district during an annual general meeting for 2022 to 2023 which he said has been a success.
He said the achievements follow the good certification system the organization has put in place which ensures no compromise of Halaal standards from point of slaughter, distribution and purchase of products.
Speaking during the AGM chairperson for Majlis Ulama Council of Malawi, Sheikh Mussah Matola urged halaal department members to desist from corrupt practices, when certifying an establishment, as this can disrupt consumption of halaal food
Sheikh Matola also said, HD workers should be vigilant on the certified establishments to ensure that they abide by the department standards.
In his remarks, HD national coordinator Sheikh Abdulmajid Chibwe said in the year 2022-2023 the department has managed to update its membership at world halaal council and piloting many home based business certificates.
Sheikh Chibwe said the international recognition will help the certified establishments to easily export their product with HD logo to international markets.
