Government approves Covid-19 funds’ use in Cholera control
Treasury has approved that Ministry of local government can utilize covid-19 ORT funds towards cholera control activities in councils
A circular which national local government finance committee director Kondwani Santhe has sent to all district commissioners says the approval follows the recommendation by presidential taskforce on corona virus and cholera
According to Santhe the funds will be utilized for procurement of cholera supplies, recruitment of temporary staff, fuel costs, paying outstanding water bills, safe water supply to schools and health facilities as well as public communication among others
He says the covid-19 funds shall be used to alleviate key challenges being faced in the fight against cholera outbreak
Therefore Ministry of local government has ordered the district commissioners to submit their requests by 6th February.
