Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has made changes of District Commissioners DC’s and Chief Executive Officers CEO’s in local councils, effective 1st December 2025.
The Ministry has announced a list of 36 old and new DC’s and CEO’s in a statement released on Monday
Many District Commissioners have been deployed to new councils with some maintained in the councils they were serving before 16th September general elections
Meanwhile, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Dr. Ben Malunga Phiri has held discussion with Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials to strategise on strengthening integrity systems ahead of the rollout of MK5 billion Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to local councils in the next financial year.
The engagement follows a review of reports revealing persistent corruption, fraud and mismanagement of CDF and other development projects in several local councils.
The Minister says the Ministry intends to develop a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with key oversight institutions to ensure that corruption is stamped out and substantial resources being channeled to communities achieve their intended purpose.
He said the meeting resolved that an MoU between integrity institutions, Ministry of Local Government and local councils must be finalized before the first tranche of the MK5 billion CDF is disbursed.
Representing ACB Director General, Chief Corruption Prevention Officer Susan Mtuwa reaffirmed the bureau’s commitment to fully participate in ensuring that corruption and fraud are prevented at all stages of project implementation.
