Beneficiaries of the social cash transfer are expected to be getting increased amounts following the plan by Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Welfare to increase their monthly allowance.
Speaking to the media in Lilongwe, Minister of gender, children and social welfare Patricia Kaliati said the matter is awaiting approval by cabinet.
“Currently, beneficiaries of the social cash transfer, a programme that targets 10 percent of the ultra poor are getting less that 3000 Malawi kwacha per household per month,” said Kaliati.
