Former President Dr Muluzi gets COVID-19 vaccine

Former president Dr Bakili Muluzi has received covid-19 vaccine at his BCA residence in Blantyre

Muluzi got the jab together with Blantyre district health officer Dr Gift Kawalazira and others

Speaking after the nurse tested his temperature Muluzi said he was ok

In the morning Dr Kawalazira said covid-19 vaccine roll out had started at a lighter note and was impressed with the turn-up of people

He said they have received 27 thousand doses and expected to complete the work on Friday this week

“BT DHO this week will be vaccinating health workers, Malawi Defense force, police officers and immigration officials adding that those with underlying conditions willing can get the vaccine,” Dr Kawalazira

The roll out has started in 4 health facilities of gateway, Chilomoni, Bangwe and Ndirande

Speaking after receiving the vaccine Veronica Ng’oma of Ndirande health centre appealed to all Malawians to get the jab saying it is for their safety

Meanwhile, State house communications director Sean Kampondeni said the president is in robust state after receiving the vaccine four days ago

He refuted rumours which circulated on social media that Chakwera had lost his hair after getting the jab during the launch of the vaccine roll out camping

The vice president Dr Saulos Chilima, first lady, former president Dr Joyce Banda, Speaker of parliament Catherine Gotani Hara and Minister of Health also received the vaccine among other prominent people
