First Lady Encourages Muslim women to be pioneers in climate change awareness

First Lady Madame Monica Chakwera has encouraged Muslim women to be pioneers in raising climate change awareness messages in the country.

Chakwera made the remarks when she presided over QMAM Muslim women National Dawah at Lilongwe Community Centre ground

Addressing the women, the First Lady advised Muslim women continue preserving and managing environment in order to avoid issues associated with climate change such as flooding and drought.

She said climate change highly affects women in the society hence a need for them to be good custodians of environmental management.

National secretary for QMAM Women Muslim Khadija Chunga said this year’s theme is “empowering Muslims in the fight against climate change.”

Chunga said the dawah has attracted 2000 women from Malawi and Mozambique
