Over 1500 hunger stricken families in Lunchenza Thyolo District have received food items from Faizaan Global Relief Foundation (FGRF).
Speaking during the distribution, FGRG’s communication Director Ibrahim Omar Madan, reaffirmed their commitment to providing essential necessities to people in need across the country.
Madan said the donation has been made after noting the challenges people were facing due to low yields in the last growing season.
We are on the ground again and again we continue planning to be on the ground we as FGRF has been promoting compassion for all Organisation, we want everybody in Malawi to helped, our projects are ongoing and we plan to introduce empowerment program in other districts to make sure that Malawi is doing well as a developing nation.” Said Madan
He added that FGRF has also donated 15 beds at Chonde health centre adding both the food items and the beds are amounting to 60 million kwacha.
“This is just the beginning of what we are planning to do and we are trying to come with new ways of making sure we reach out to many across Malawi”.
One of the beneficiaries Grady’s Chilomo hailed the organization for the timely assistance.
Chilomo who lives with her 8 grandchildren said she did not harvest enough last year and the donation will go a long hence asking other organisations to support the less privileged.
“Last year, people in this area did not yield anything from their gardens, we were at the verge of dying of hunger, but now we are happy. Am asking other organisations to come in and support us”. Chilomo said
Chilomo said they expect to have enough yields this year, because people in the area have tried their best and engaged in farming.
In his remarks, Member of Parliament for the area, Chimwemwe Chipungu, who is also minister of Lands and Rural Development, hailed the organization for the support.
“As Member of Parliament, I am very thankful that this Organisation came into my constituency because we had poor yields last year so it’s an appeal that more organisations should come and support the people”. said Chipungu
He also emphasized the need for parents to make use of the free secondary education to send their children to school.
