Experts for abolition of MVAC
Farmers Union of Malawi FUM has seconded the proposal by parliamentary committee on Agriculture to abolish the Malawi Vulnerability Assessment Committee MVAC.
This comes barely a day after Chidanti Malunga, chairperson of the Committee was quoted to have said that there is need to abolish MVAC because its reports do not reflect the reality on the ground.
Commenting on the matter, FUM President Alfred Kapichira Banda told radio Islam that it is good that parliament has realized that MVAC reports do not reflect a true picture of the situation.
He further said “MVAC has failed to deliver and that people have lost trust in the organisation.”
Kapichira Banda therefore advised farmers not to rely on relief but actively engage in irrigation farming to sustain their live hood.
Currently Malawians are expecting Malawi Vulnerability and Assessment Committee MVAC 2017/2018 report on dry spell in some parts of the country, the roaming hunger, and fall Army worms.
