Electoral stakeholders challenged on Peace in Elections

Electoral stakeholders have been challenged to create a peaceful electoral environment where every citizen can exercise their democratic right without fear as the country approaches 2025 general elections

Chairperson of research monitoring and evaluation committee of Malawi electoral commission Dr Limbikani Kamlongera made the call during the opening of the multi stakeholder meeting on promoting free expression and safety of journalists during elections organised by UNESCO and media council of Malawi

Kamlongera said during election period the media must be allowed to operate freely, without intimidation, censorship or undue influence while discharging their duties

However she said the media must report electoral matters in a manner that is ethical, factual and free from bias, misinformation, sensationalism and inflammatory reporting
