DPP invites Political Parties to 500 million Kwacha Convention

Democratic Progressive Party DPP says has invited other political parties and dignitaries to its elective convention

Addressing a media briefing at DPP headquarters in Blantyre chairperson of the convention Dr George Chaponda says they have invited UDF, AFORD and UTM officials

Chaponda has said their budget is over 500 million kwacha which they have realized through blue night fundraising and nomination fees

He says 2600 delegates from all regions are expected to attend the convention and its theme is: a return to proven leadership a call to Malawians to restoring hope, rebuilding the economy and healing the fractured unity of Malawi

Chaponda added that all positions will be up for grabs but only Professor Peter Mutharika has collected nomination for the position of DPP President

He said Mutharika is the man who can manage the current economic crisis as he has done it before when donor support was not available in Malawi

Chaponda advised aspiring candidates to adhere to rules in the application form and conduct issue based campaign

He says all is set for the convention which will be held from 17 to 18 August at COMESA Hall in Blantyre
