Department of immigration rolls hostels construction project at Katuli boarder post

Department of immigration in eastern region has rolled out a hostels construction project at Katuli boarder post in Mangochi district.

Speaking in an interview with radio Islam eastern region immigration officer Vivian Kasambo disclosed that the hostels currently under construction will provide shelter for officers and strengthen security in the area.

Kasambo said “they are being constructed with support from Siku Group of companies, Njereza Cement Company and Raiply Malawi.”

However, Kasambo mentioned finances as a major challenge facing his office.

He then asked government and other organizations to provide Katuli boarder post with vehicles

In his remarks group village head Kalanje thanked the department for the initiative saying it will help to strengthen security.

Kalanje then pleaded with government to install electricity in the area and construct a tarmac road saying the gravel road is impassable during rainy season
