Darusunnah Foundation donates relief items to cyclones survivors
In a bid to respond to President Chakwera’s call to assist victims of cyclones Ana and Gombe, Darusunnah Foundation has donated relief items to over 1600 families from the districts of Lilongwe, Dedza and Ntcheu.
The relief pack which has assorted food and non-food items has been made with financial support from Dar Al Bir society of United Arab Emirates.
In an interview alongside the exercise at Dedza main Masjid, Darusunnah Foundation Director, Sheikh Ismail Allan, said the donation is one of its core responsibilities to ensure social wellbeing of people including those affected by disasters.
Sheikh Allan thanked the funders for the support and pledged his organization’s commitment to working together with Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM).
“Darusunnah Foundation has already reached out to over 5000 families in districts on Salima and Mangochi,” Sheikh Allan
Speaking Central Region Muslim Association of Malawi Chairperson Sheikh Ibrahim Machakwane thanked Darusunnah Foundation for the support and requested to reach out to all the districts in the region with the support.
Sheikh Machakwane said MAM together with various Islamic organizations is committed to working together with government to promote people’s wellbeing.
In his remarks Minister of Energy, Sheikh Ibrahim Matola commended Darusunnah Foundation sheikhs’ for the initiative saying it portrays a good picture of sheikhs in the country.
Sheikh Matola said “people have for long undermined efforts made by sheikhs in as far as Islam is concerned, hence time has come to honor them the respect they deserve.”
