Civil Servants Trade Union CSTU has dismissed the notice to take industrial action by some purported Civil Servants making rounds on social media.
Speaking in an interview with Radio Islam, CSTU Secretary General Peter Gomani says the claims in the letter are not far from the concerns of the civil servants but was quick to say they will follow procedures to present them to the government negotiating Team.
According to the letter, the civil servants are dissatisfied and frustrated with the recent economic measures imposed by government specially the 17.5% and the rise in the Pay as You Earn PAYE BY 30%.
“These measures have had a devastating impact on their already meager salaries adding it is a circulated move to systematically reduce purchase power at a time the country is facing economic crisis,” Gomani says
The civil servants have since asked government to reverse the PAYE and increase their salaries with 40%.
