Court stops DPP from firing regional governor

High court in Lilongwe has granted injunction to former governor of democratic progressive party DPP for the south Charles Mchacha restraining the Party and its president Peter Mutharika from firing him

The court has given 28 days to the two parties to file application for the continuation of the injunction

DPP reportedly fired Mchacha for banning the party’s supporters from endorsing the candidature of Mutharika in 2025 elections

Mchacha was replaced by Thompson Kamangira who was unveiled few days ago

Mchacha is a Member of Parliament for Thyolo West and served a ministerial post in DPP regime
