High Court in Mzuzu has nullified parliamentary election results for Mzimba Hora constituency.
Malawi Electoral Commission MEC had declared Martha Munthari of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party DPP winner of the 16th September general election in the area
However, Malawi Congress Party candidate Henry Mumba took the matter to court sighting irregularities that were left unaddressed by MEC.
In his ruling justice Thomson Ligowe ordered a fresh election to be conducted in the area and Martha to pay MEC all costs incurred by the complainant during legal process.
Speaking with Radio Islam, Mumba expressed satisfaction with the court ruling.
Meanwhile, Malawi Electoral Commission has through its spokesperson, Sangwani Mwafulirwa, said “we respect the ruling adding will study the judgement and take all necessary steps to comply with it.”
