Concerned citizen writes Malawi parliament to summon PMRA over fake medicines
A concerned citizen Clement Stambuli has written speaker of parliament Catherine Gotani Hara to summon Pharmacy and Medicine regulatory Authority PMRA following reports that Malawi tops the list of countries in Africa with fake medicines.
In a statement Stambuli said the issue at hand is very serious and cannot go unnoticed therefore asking parliament to intervene.
He said this indicates that the authority is sleeping on duty and must be taking to account as a lot of citizens are falling victim to the ordeal.
Stambuli hopes that parliament with treat the issue with the seriousness it deserves.
A study by researchers at Bahir Dar University in Ethiopia found that Malawi has the highest proportion of substandard and falsified medicines in Africa
In its reaction PMRA said was reexamining the methodology used in the research.
