Chakwera challenges new judges on cases
President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has challenged new judges of High Court to prosecute cases with speed, fairness and professionalism
Speaking during the swearing of the new chief justice Rezine Mzikamanda and the judges at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe Chakwera said Malawians are frustrated with the slowness in investigating, trying and disposing cases
Chakwera expressed hope that the judges will correct the anomalies for the prosperity of the justice system.
He condemned the increase of mob justice hence asking the new High court judges to promote justice
“This is evidenced in the tendency of many people who are taking the law in their hands by pronouncing judgments and punishments, hence beating and killing suspects of crimes,” Chakwera
He reminded the judges that the justice system is one of the three arms of government hence should uphold and defend constitution
