CFSC challenges journalists to uncover public funds mismanagement
Centre for social concern CFSC has challenged journalists in Zomba and Phalombe to use their expertise to uncover public funds mismanagement in order to enhance development
The challenge has been made during a media workshop for Zomba and Phalombe journalists on public funds management which was held in Mulanje
Director for CFSC James Mngahy said “we engaged journalists because they have a role in enhancing demand for transparency and accountability on public funds management.”
Speaking after opening the workshop district commissioner for Phalombe Rodrick Mateauma said journalists are available structures in accessing critical information on public funds
Speaking on behalf of participants Zomba press club public relations officer Mbanandi Mahara Mahala hailed organizers for the training and called upon fellow journalists to put into full use the knowledge acquired
The training was organized under the project called strengthening capacity of citizens to demand transparency and accountability in public finance management for reduced poverty and inequality which falls under the organization’s component of economic governance
