Businessman arrested over involvement in Cement scam

in Lilongwe have arrested Lilongwe based businessman Shafee Ahmad Chunara owner of Prestige Import and Export.
It is alleged that Chunoora is involved in the importation of multi-billion Kwacha duty free cement.

Former head of state Peter Mutharika’s Personal Bodyguard,Norman Chisale was also arrested in connection to the allegation.

According to reports,400,000 bags of cement were imported on duty free and tax money amounting to 5 billion kwacha is calculated to have been lost in the process by using Mutharika’s TPIN.

National police spokesperson James Kadadzera has meanwhile confirmed the arrest in an interview with Radio Islam
