Balaka vendors protest illegal relocation

Vendors in Balaka have demonstrated against relocation without following protocol of those who are operating along the streets

According to chairman of central market vendors Haroon Matipa the council notified them on Wednesday of the relocation on Thursday which is against the protocol

He said  upon forwarding the issue to fellow vendors they did not welcome the development resulting in a demonstration this morning

In her remarks public relations officer for Balaka district council Mary Makhiringa said “the council will engage further with the vendors to meet their satisfaction so as to move forward.”

Makhiringa said the council has therefore suspended the decision giving a space for discussions
