Angry Students Storm Council To Transfer Headteacher
Angry students from Machinga secondary school have stormed district council office demanding the removal of head teacher and other teachers over allegations that they are cruel and involved in theft
According to Machinga secondary school head boy George Mmadi the students have been complaining to school management for some time about being served only mgaiwa with vegetables and misuse of some school resources but their concerns have not been addressed, prompting them to protest
Mmadi said the students opted to storm the district commissioner’s office to seek its intervention on the matter as discussion with school authorities proved futile
He added that the students were promised to see a change after raising school fees from 70 to 100 000 kwacha but to their surprise things are still getting worse
Efforts to speak to School authorities proved futile as they were unreachable
But Machinga district council spokesperson Martin Chiwanda confirmed to have received the concern from the students adding they will engage both parties to map the way forward
