Albarakah Charity Trust sets 100 million kwacha for cyclone survivors

Albarakah charity trust says has set aside 100 million kwacha to reach out to survivors of cyclone Freddy in some parts of the country.

Albaraka charity trust director of finance and administration Saidi Witness disclosed this when the charity Organisation provided relief items to 600 families affected by cyclone Freddy from 10 villages, Mulanje district.

Speaking during the event Witness said considering conditions of camps, the institution included water guard in the package for people to be able to treat the water in the wake of cholera outbreak.

However, witness requested government to implement policies that will ensure sanity with regards to settlements in order to protect lives and resources.

The donation which was given to 600 families is worthy 37.2 million kwacha and has been provided by petroda Malawi limited.

In their remarks some of the survivors appreciated the organization for the timely gesture saying conditions in the camps are unbearable.

They also lamented lack of privacy and hygiene conditions in the camps.
