Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 worried with cases
The Presidential Taskforce on COVID19 has expressed worry over the increasing numbers of COVID19 cases that are increasing in the past 10 days.
Co-Chairperson of the Taskforce, Dr John Phuka, expressed the concern during a press briefing in Lilongwe where he announced that 10 new cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours.
Dr Phuka said the increase is due to imported cases by people coming from other countries and relaxation of people in the country from observing the preventive measures.
“All returnees who test positive will now be quarantined at the quarantine centers,” Dr Phuka
In her remarks, Minister of Health, Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda advised Malawians to adhere to the measures that have been put in place to avoid further spread of the disease.
Chiponda said the taskforce will continue monitoring everyone returning from outside country so that the virus can be contained.
She then called upon sports organizers to make sure players and supporters adhere to the measures when there is a game.
On the COVID19 vaccine, Chiponda said “it has not reached the country yet and the ministry will make proper research to see if the vaccine is good for the people in the country before it is used.”
