Malawi Police Service has advised Muslim officers to perform their duties in line with Islamic faith.
Southern region police commissioner Sladge Yusuf made the remarks during get-together of Muslim police officers at Iqra Islamic propagation centre in Blantyre.
Commissioner Yusuf stressed the need for Muslim officers to prioritise their Islamic faith as they provide the country’s security.
He encouraged the officers to upgrade their education in order to attain higher positions.
“It’s very good to meet regularly because it helps to strengthen one’s faith,” said Yusuf
He hailed Islamic information Bureau for organizing the function
Speaking during the same function Limbe Islamic information bureau coordinator Sheikh Ahmad Chienda said they organized the event to provide knowledge to police officers regarding their Islamic faith.
Sheikh Chienda said “police officers play a crucial role in the society therefore if they are aware of their religion it can help to promote Islam in the country.”
In his remarks one of the participants sub inspector Muhammad Ali hailed the meeting saying it has helped to enlighten them on basic issues regarding Islam.
Ali encouraged fellow police officers to establish permanent structures which will help to uplift Muslim welfare in the country.
