Men challenged to protect Women from GBV

First deputy speaker of Parliament who is also He for She champion Madalitso Kazombo has challenged men and boys to protect girls and women from Gender Based Violence GBV.

Addressing the gathering at the symposium on engaging men and boys in GBV prevention, Kazombo says men should create a harmonious society with women.

Kazombo commended government for putting females in top positions in different sectors which means enhancing gender equality.

Chairperson for Irish Consortium Lucy Mwangie says engaging boys and men in fighting against GBV is an important factor in ensuring that women fundamental rights are protected.

Mwangie said GBV is a threat to women’s health, wellbeing and stability of the society

In her remarks minister of gender and social welfare says the nation needs to stand together to end gender based violence.

She said leaving boys and men behind in the battle against GBV is disastrous because in many cases they are the perpetrators of violence and in some cases equally suffer from the abuses.
