Police have arrested 17-year-old man who assaulted and stabbed to death a 32-year-old housemaid of his former employer in a mistaken identity revenge at Area 36.
Both, the suspect and deceased have been identified as Ishmael Wasi and Patricia Ching’amba, respectively.
It is reported that in May this year, the former boss to the suspect, lodged a complaint at Chitsime Police Unit against him and two other accomplices for breaking into the complainant’s business office at Lilongwe Bypass Road and stole cash amounting to K970, 000.
Wasi was later arrested for breaking and theft offence, and part of the money was recovered before being granted bail.
But on the day of the incident, June 12, 2023 the suspect went to the house of his former employer on a revenge mission in mind for his arrest and loss of job.
However, while targeting to decisively deal with his former employer’s wife, he mistakenly started assaulting the housemaid he found at the time, and later stabbed her using a knife.
Then after smelling danger that people who heard the desperate shouts of help from the housemaid were starting to gather, the suspect went to hide into the ceiling of the roof. However, people braved themselves and managed to smoke him out of the ceiling before severely assaulting him.
When police arrived at the scene, they rushed with both, Patricia (deceased) and the suspect to Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) where unfortunately, the former was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Meanwhile, Ishmael Wasi (suspect), who was seriously wounded by the mob, is admitted at KCH.
