Chakwera attends COMESA summit in Zambia
President Dr Lazarus Chakwera is attending the summit of Common Market for Eastern and Southern (COMESA) heads of state and government in Lusaka, Zambia
The Summit is being held under the theme ‘Economic integration for a thriving COMESA, anchored on a green investment, value addition and tourism.
Speaking Thursday morning before departing Kamuzu International Airport to the summit Chakwera said COMESA states should consolidate regional trade to improve the region’s economy.
At the meeting, Chakwera will make a maiden statement along with other Heads of State and Government from Kenya and Libya.
After the summit the president is expected to hold bilateral talks with other Heads of State present at the event.
The current Chairperson of COMESA Abdul Fattah El-Sisi President of Egypt will hand over the mantle to President of Zambia Hakainde Hichilema, after taking up the role from Madagascar in 2021.
President Chakwera is expected to return home Thursday evening via KIA.
