Government introduces monthly transport allowance of 20, 000 kwacha for civil servants
Government has introduced monthly transport allowance for civil servants in Grades E to R of 20, 000 kwacha
This is according to a letter from office of human resource management and development written to all controlling officers and heads of departments
Secretary for the office B.G Chilabade says the allowance is part of ongoing efforts to improve welfare of civil servants effective 1st April
Chilabade advises the controlling officers that the transport allowance should be contained within the approved 2023 to 2024 budgets in their ministries or departments
He says the allowance shall be subject to periodic review alongside other allowances
According to Chilabade civil servants in Grades D and above are already entitled to monthly fuel allocation therefore will not be entitled to transport allowance
He stresses that under no circumstances should any officer draw both transport allowance and monthly fuel allocation
