CSOs meet attorney general on Chizuma’s interdiction
A consortium of civil society organizations has met attorney general Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda on the arrest, prosecution and interdiction of director general of ant corruption bureau Martha Chizuma
Speaking at a press briefing on behalf of the consortium Chairperson of national ant corruption alliance Moses Makandawire said they plan to meet minister justice on the matter next week
According to Mkandawire, the meeting with attorney general boarders on government dropping the case against Chizuma.
He said it is worrisome to note that government has launched an attack on ACB Director Martha Chizuma as witnessed by recent court battles on her interdiction among others
Meanwhile, Centre for Democracy and Economic Development CDEDI has told president Chakwera to order his government to stop court cases against director general of ant corruption bureau
In a press release CDEDI executive director Silvestor Namiwa says taxpayers money must not be used to pay for personal legal cases while Malawians are are struggling with poverty.
Namiwa said the money should be utilized in important issues such as procurement of supplies for cholera control.
