National Aids Commission (NAC) has said the launch of this year’s Joint World Aids Day and International Aids Candlelight commemoration is different from previous years as it has been decentralized into five districts
Addressing a news conference NAC Chief Executive Officer Dr Beatrice Matanje says this year’s event takes place in different places because NAC is targeting men who are found in various scenarios of settings
Matenje says the targeted men are those in workplaces, informal sector, immigrants, fishermen and kabaza men
She states that HIV prevalence rate has dropped from 14 percent in 1990 to 7.3 percent in 2024 while new infections reduced from 115000 to 12000 respectively
