US Embassy is deeply concerned with Malawi’s fight against corruption
Embassy of United States of America is deeply concerned with a series of actions by government of Malawi that have severely damaged credibility of its fight against corruption
US embassy says attorney general’s urgent application on 7th February to vacate a court order which suspended the interdiction of ant corruption bureau director Martha Chizuma culminates two months of harassment by government officials against her
The embassy says this step seeks to reinstitute the action by secretary to president and cabinet to interdict Chizuma
US government has urged Malawi not to wage a campaign of intimidation against ant corruption champions
It says has engaged senior government officials to seek renewed commitment to the fight against corruption but those efforts have not yielded results
