UNIMA closed
Management of University of Malawi UNIMA has temporarily closed the institution following vigils students have been holding over a revised 2022/2023 academic calendar which they take to be unfair.
A statement signed by the University’s Registrar Mary Wasiri says the decision to close UNIMA arises from security threats the vigils posed to the institution and surrounding community.
She adds that all students have been advised to vacate the institution’s premises by Wednesday 2nd November 2022.
Meanwhile, some students have gone to court to obtain injunction restraining management from closing the institution.
Among others UNIMA management has changed the academic calendar to one semester and five months holiday
