MEC declares UDF, independent candidates winners of by-elections

Malawi Electoral Commission MEC has declared that UDF and independent candidates have won parliamentary by elections in Mangochi and Phalombe districts

Announcing the official results in Blantyre Chairperson of the commission Justice Dr Chifundo Kachale said the winners are Idi Kalosi, Reuben Kanyama and Mabvuto Bokosi

“The announcement delayed because some complaints reached the commission at eleventh hour,” Kachale

Meanwhile UDF has congratulated its candidate Kalosi for winning the elections in Mangochi North east

The by-elections were conducted in Phalombe north, Mangochi north east and west constituencies after High court nullified 2019 parliamentary results due to irregularities as complained by some contestants
