Teenager’s appeal ruling 22 July
High Court in Blantyre is on 22nd July expected to deliver its ruling on whether to acquit a 19 year old Mussa John who was recently sentenced to eight years imprisonment over possession of marijuana.
Lawyers representing John are arguing that their client is 17 years of age and not 19 as was recorded by the lower court.
Justice Chima has since directed the convict through his lawyers to file application to the court by 14th July and the state should respond by 18th.
Earlier, lawyers of Mussa applied for bail pending the review but the court objected.
Lawyer Chikondi Chijozi hints that their arguments are directed towards seeing the convict acquitted.
