Teachers promotion was politicized-Ombudsman report

Investigation by office of Ombudsman on the promotion of teachers in primary and secondary schools has found that was being politicized

Ombudsman Martha Chizuma has revealed in a report of the investigation into alleged acts of maladministration in the promotion procedure of the teachers in April 2019 by Ministries of education and local government

Chizuma observed that past regimes promoted teachers towards elections for obvious reasons

“For instance in May 2004 Bakili Muluzi administration promoted a large number of teachers towards elections, Joyce Banda administration promoted teachers in 2013 towards 2014 elections and Peter Mutharika promoted 20, 000 teachers in April 2019,” Chizuma explained

Chizuma has recommended control measure to curb the malpractice
