South Africa President appoints Imtiaz Fazel as Inspector-General of Intelligence
South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Imtiaz Fazel as Inspector-General of Intelligence for a tenure of five years.
Last month, parliament approved Fazel’s appointment after interviewing 12 out of 25 people who applied for the position.
Until his appointment Fazel was the deputy director general of home affairs,
He was nominated unanimously by national assembly in September with the support of 334 MPs and no abstentions.
Fazel replaces Issac Dintwe, whose contract expired in March.
